As a Calgary family photographer, I truly come alive in the spring. After the long winter, everything feels fresh again. The city slowly begins to bloom, with soft greens returning and light stretching into the evenings.
Families step back outside to enjoy it all, making it the perfect season for natural, heartfelt photography.

When I arrive for a spring session, I don’t look for perfect poses. Instead, I look for connection. I notice the quiet, unplanned moments — like your child reaching for your hand without thinking, or the way you gently brush hair away from their face.
Often, laughter begins with something small and slowly grows into something real. For example, kids might run through fresh grass, chasing each other without a plan.
At other times, it’s a quiet moment on a blanket in the backyard. And sometimes, it’s simply standing close together, soaking in the warmth after months of cold. In the end, these moments might feel ordinary — but they’re the ones that stay.
One of my favourite parts of spring sessions is how quickly everyone relaxes. Shoes come off. Kids lead the way. Parents stop trying to “get it right.” And suddenly, it’s not about photos anymore.
It’s about:
I gently guide when needed, but most of the time, I step back and let your story unfold naturally. Because those are the images that feel like you.

Every year, I find myself drawn back to this season. Maybe it’s because, as a parent, I know how quickly these stages pass. Maybe it’s because I’ve felt those same quiet backyard moments with my own family and explored the ravines till late sunset. Or maybe it’s because spring reminds me that the most meaningful memories are often the simplest ones. The feeling of being right here, together.

If you’re thinking about family photography in Calgary this spring, I would love to create something honest and meaningful for you.
No pressure.
No perfection.
Just your family, your connection, and this beautiful season you’re in.
Because one day, these small moments will be the ones you’ll want to remember most.
